Short answer - LOTS!

Its about a month into the semester and I am finding myself drained and scavenging for motivation. For those that don't know I plan to graduate with a Bachelors in Marketing in December (*crosses fingers*) given that I keep up with all my deadlines and studying.

My tips for anyone overwhelmed with what seems like tons of homework and appointments:

Keep a schedule - I personally use Google Calendar and integrate it with just amount any device I am connected to. On my PC, on my Mac (via iCal), or even when I log in to Gmail
Add Reminders/Alarms - Like repetition advertising you want to be reminded, that being due dates and appointments. I personally set up my reminders to go off as alarms, pop-ups, and even as text messages. That way there should be no excuse for late assignment.
Know your limits - If you have 3 exams in a week my suggestion is do study by strength reviewing content by the least knowledgeable to the most. Given that, give each subject a sizable time.

Despite my tips I find my self being overwhelmed with due dates and the stress is making feel very unmotivated.

Out of the 4 classes I have this semester each has a group project (of some 20+ pages) and presentations (of some 10-20minutes). One of these classes is completely online and we virtually never meet face 2 face, talk about challenges. Cant Google Wave be released any sooner to make my life much easier? Sigh. I guess its Microsoft Groove for now.

One good practice I have come across for group project is to 'set team deadlines' that is have everyone submit their portion or ideas by a certain date before project or milestone is due. This leaves ample time to make changes, revisions, and collating the work.

Some of my daily rituals aside from my morning power nap (which I highly suggest) is to study content in the event of a pop quiz. Never before have I seen the amount of quiz's in my whole college career than I have seen in the last 4 weeks. I have treated each lecture as a possible pop quiz not only does review give me a better idea of course content but prepares me for an exam.

Aside from the school rant I have been busy as the VP for Web and Design for the American Marketing Association at CSUS. Ive been fortunate to meeting and get to know many of the alumni, guest speakers because of AMA. My hopes is that I can meet the right people to secure a job somewhere, anywhere, as long as I am doing bigger and better things I am doing now. That is not to say that I don't enjoy my job or situation I am at now but my personality calls for progression and Ive got only the sky to shoot for.

With all this talk of school I have to put some of my hobbies on back burner. Ive been called a couple of times by the staff at CQB City and Ive ensured them my well-being. At times I find myself with an itchy trigger finger and day dream of the warehouse. Sigh. One of these days I will make my return to the field.

University Falls Hike: A stuntastic Tuesday

I was ending my monday with plans to stay in on Tuesday and work on the AMA website which BTW is coming a long together nicely. Then I get an invite from Mark to go hiking to a place we both have only heard about from other classmates; University Falls (Pilot Creek Falls).

Having not done anything but summer session I figure it would be a decent way to end the summer on a good note.

The morning was spent at Sac State waiting for the last member of our hiking group also a local of the area we would be hiking. BTW the Jamba Juice on campus was open (soft open) so we were some of the first customers there.

We head up I-80 east towards Reno and turn off into Auburn and take 49 South. The whole trip to the trail was scenic with mountains, huge tree's, small communities stuck in time, and wildlife.

The whole trail was about 5 mils round trip anicipate an 1hr going down and a 1hr and a half hiking back up. There are trail divides but most previous hikers have mapped out which to take with trail markers and arrows. Id suggest taking a quick breather about halfway. Near the fallls you begin a steep decent, at this point id like to suggest you bring a decent pair of shoes, I myself almost fell a few times. Watch your step.

Once arriving at the falls we were greeted to a wide open clearing with 4 "water-slides" although realistically I wouldnt suggest the 4th near the button as people have been injured and/or died attempting it. Id park your gear in the shade nearby the first falls or down more near the 3rd fall.

Now usually I hear this area is is filled with students/locals alike but since it was a weekday and midday we were the only ones around (apart from the hippies) so we had the whole area to ourselves. Im glad I packed light as I didnt have to bring much hiking back up.

We stayed there for a couple hours and decided to head back up the trail before it went dark. The up hill climb was brutal at the start since our steep decent just before the falls ment a steep climb back up. Needless to say I used the inhaler more than once going back up. Pacing myself and taking small breathers I made my way passed the worst of it in no time.

On our way back we decided to stop by Forest Hill Bridge. Some of you may recognize this as it was the bridge featured in xXx starring Vin Diesel. It was the bridge he jumps off with the corvette. (youTube video)

Not a bad way to end a somewhat un-eventful summer. I will be going back this time with more people. Wish you where there.

Music Touches all Walks of Life

Dont know if any of you will find this interesting/crazy/relevant to your day but I thought I might as well blog about it.

Im sitting here trying to find old recordings of the studio computer and I realized some of it was online. Of course I refer to my old Soundclick page (which has a list of some of the songs I did between 2002-2005) and then do a quick Google search and find a couple of old Spinatiks threads and old guitar tablature I had posted for my friends Gabe Bondoc and Jeremy Manongdo.

My first time visiting CSUS, where I go to school now, was when I performed a melody of songs with Mark G back in 2004. One of the songs we did was a mash-up of Harana (OPM) mixed with Jeremy's song Lemonade. We kept it nice, simple and super clean. If you havent heard this yet check out the original practice recording on the Soundclick link above.

I then stumble this video from a guy named Julian who had visited the now defunct Spinatiks online community and heard the recording showed me some love on YouTube by doing a cover. Much respect to the guy. Turns out the same year the video was posted he ended up passing. As curious as I want to be Ive gotta lay off the interweb diggin. Now mind you Ive never met the guy before and I may vaguely remember him from the Spinatiks forums. But I thought I mind as well show this guy respect and give his YouTube video some hits.

So why post this? I haven't picked up my guitar let alone sang tune in a very long time. It goes to show you how far music new, old, experimental, or even just an off the wall recording can reach somebody. Im surprised I never seen the video or the fact no one ever mentioned it to me. Mango the Cat

I know I haven't posted its not that I am neglecting this blog its just I have been real busy with outside things. Soon I will be on the summer school road and hopefully have more time at a computer to write out my feelings.

Speaking of feelings a real good friend approached me to post this up on the blog in hopes to reach the masses. Its about his cat Mango who is suffering from Heart Disease. Now normally pet owners alike all will grieve the death or lose of one pet, but a couple of months ago another one of his own cats went missing. So the least I could do is try to help him out and so should you.

Mango is now 2, I am happy he got to turn 2!

The vet costs have tallied up to almost $2000, which has severely effected Mika and I's budgets, but also in turn has helped saved Mango's life. Yesterday(6-29-09), Mango almost died and was rushed to the pet hospital, but made a quick recovery during the day after a procedure was done to remove fluid from his lung area. A recent call from a passionate vet that now works with Mango, has given me a possible hope that Mango can life a normal life. By increasing the Taurine level in his blood, and a new medication, he may live like a normal cat.

Unfortunately all the treatments still require money, and the costs of the upcoming treatments wont be as much as the first ones, but are digging deeper into the pockets of his caretakers. We are taking on the bigger parts of his coming health bills, but any donations help a lot!

If anybody has met Mango before, you know he is a high energy cat, who loves to be pet, loves to play, and loves being around people. He lives to entertain and have fun with people who visit and play with him.

I'm not one to ask or beg for money, nor should I be in the position to beg or ask, but Mango needs help to get better. If anybody can help at all, all proceeds will go straight to Mango's treatment. Triple Birthday Bash

Went to a Rob, Michelle, & Melissa's birthday bash last night (6/19/09). Had fun times with new/old co-workers, old friends and new ones. Someone recently asked me why I never go out with them to a bar. My reply? Alcohol is a lot cheaper at a house party (free). Although I did buy a bottle of Ciroc (see: Sean Combs Wiki), in which I found out not too many people like vodka. In all it was all in good fun.

At the moment I finished just uploading them to Facebook and eventually will upload the pictures to Myspace.

Web Development

Over the past few days I have been keeping myself occupied with a combination of study and work (yes, I know redundant). As the semester draws to an end I find that the Spring 2009 semester has been one of my busiest. Now I am not

one to complain but it has sure taught be a lot about what I am capable of and how much more potential I have in myself.

One of those accomplishments was creating and maintain several blogs which includes me finding something more interesting topics to discuss than my usual random chit-chat. I also began doing volunteer work doing advertising and market research for a small business. Another would be joining the American Marketing Association collegiate and national chapters. Then to wrap up the semester became VP of Web and Development for AMA CSUS.

Recently, I had the extreme pleasure of listening to Bob Duffy of Web Development at the Intel Corporation. He gave an interesting lecture of Social Media Marketing, gee I wonder who just wrote about that, and found out the awesome things that he is involved with. Intel is doing some rather interesting stuff to increase what he calls, brand relevance, which involves making Intel

more relevant in marketing. In web development he has found that social media is becoming a driving force in marketing. His research has found that more individuals get their information from social media than even the NY Times. I found this interesting as I rarely visit a new website or even pick up the a newspaper let alone watch the news, but much of the things I discover is from Twitter updates, StumbleUpon links, YouTube sidebars, etc.

I am really interested in the types of things Bob Duffy is involved with and would like to learn more. I spoke to Mr. Duffy afterward and he gave me some valuable insight into branding, blogging and tweeting. My takeaways from my one-on-one with Bob was to treat my blogs, tweets, and those a like as a brand; start by creating awareness, link yourself to relevant media, and become more of a voice in the social web. Bob if your reading this by now your insights were valuable and I will be taking them into account. BTW if you are wondering you can follow Bob Duffy on his Twitter.

That same night I had the opportunity to eat at Sacramento's premiere Sushi Restaurant; Mikunis. As a sushi eater I could not pass up the chance to eat at this place. I have heard so many great things about it and to sum things up they are all true. The establishment is a great hip place to eat out, formal or casual the eating is just as phenomenal.

As people graduate and celebrate only the beginning of their lives I find myself sitting here pondering my graduate, my celebration. Will it just be as joyful as theirs or will it be filled with fear of the years to come? Until the end of next semester arrives I will just have to continue to ponder but the old saying "so close but yet so far away" has never seemed to fit until just this moment.

Congratulations to all those have graduated from my friends at CSUS, UCM, UCD, and Cal Poly (SLO).

Standby for more blog posts. Just gotta finish these finals and typing up papers and doing the extra credit. Shooting to boost that GPA.

Addicted to the social network

Strangely enough I found out today that I am addicted to the idea of social network, to be more precise, online networks.

Today, my professor asked the class what plans did we have immediately after graduation. My reflex response was "twitter." As the class sat there laughing I realized that I probably would be indeed tweeting right after I got handed my degree.

It went from being signed to only one social network, Myspace, to the now several that I manage and update frequently. Whether I am micro-blogging, stumbling (stumbleupon), or digging (digg) I find myself needing to tell somebody something.

How can I take this seemingly mindless task of sharing and posting to its next level? To be clear, How can I make this disadvantage an advantage?

Most people think that such social networks are for nerds, or social hounds but really these tools are available for an endless array opportunities. I believe that these networks are the newest forms of marketing. Most are starting to refer to these networks as Social Media Marketing. While I wont delve into fully of my idea's (as I have intellectual property on them) but I will enlighten you with some ways others have made social networks.

As an avid follower of Tim Ferris he recently made a post on his blog about "Measuring Social Media ROI." That is measuring ones return on invest (ROI) on social media. It was more or less a study he conducted, quiet successfully I might ad, to measure the dollar amount impact his blog/twitter had. He basically challenged his readers to follow him (see: TweetToBeat) in which he would donate $1 to a specific cause also another third party would match $2 to Tim's donation making a total of $3 for every new follower. At the end of the study he calculated that he had a total of over 37,000 new followers which calculated to about 17 every hour in the 2 weeks he ran the study.

Ok, so what can I takeaway from what I just stated. Look at the power Tim had over readers he was able to tap into 37,000 new people within 2 weeks or 17 people every hour simply by micro-blogging. I see a huge opportunities for young entrepreneurs like myself in using web traffic in a marketing aspect. It has been long since believed that online marketing was pretty much useless (to a point). I mean common how often do we click banner ads that pop up because it so happen to interest us? Be honest most of us have pop-up blockers and dont want to deal with it.

Using Social Media to market is just a phenomenal idea, especially if it benefits a cause like Tim Ferris demonstrated. One idea would be to release social media network sites to generate traffic on things otherwise unknown or normally out of the target market. Another idea would be to link networks to connect people from otherwise different segments. For example; while the immediate need for a business HVAC system would not be what most of us would be looking for but I bet you within your social network (especially if it includes small businesses) you may know someone that may need it.

This is just my two-cents on how social media while mundane in nature could be used to affect business.

Study music...

You know what I am talking about. Its the music, if you're an auditory learner, that you listen to when you are trying to study. Its seems I have tried the gammot when it comes to genre's of music. A few semesters ago I tried listening to Jazz but all that seemed to do was put me to sleep. Dont get my wrong I do appreciate Jazz quiet a bit but not to study with.

On my Microsoft Zune 120Gb I have over 200 albums (yes I said 200 albums) many of them of the Hip-Hop variety but what do I listen to when I study? Over and over again the "random" feature brings up Tech N9ne and I find I get a lot accomplished with N9ne in my ear.

Why Tech N9ne? I dont know really I am suprised just as you are I have theorized that he has to do something with the tempo of his music or his hard hitting bass. Who knows? All I know is that when I need to get to cramming its Tech that allows me to concentrate.

But things brings me to ask you; What do you listen to when you study? Let me know by leaving a comment. Think about this closely dont just give me a genre I know there's an artist you listen to over and over again. Let me know!

Lab of Mischief

Drove on down to CSUS and went to the only building that was open; AIRC (Academic Information Research Center). It is the only building that is open 24/7 especially during finals week.

Started and almost finished my Decision Sciences term project when most of my group for another class; MGMT 102 (business communications) showed up. We moved on down to the Computer Lab into one of the study rooms and got working on the different parts of the presentation.

The lab was full and almost on every floor of the AIRC seats and tables were taken. Yeah, finals are around the corner. As dead week approaches many students, including myself, are gearing up to turn in the last assignments and salvage whatever grade they can.

A little into hour 6 of my time in the building I begin to divert my attention away from my work. I start browsing the internet and showing funny video clips and stuff I have recorded. Needless to say we got a little loud.

So I show some of group the Bubb Rub video from my last post. We were laughing pretty loud for such a small room:

Of course they start making fun of me because I blog/twitter/facebook as we were having our meeting. As time passed on we knocked out the majority of the presentation, at least for the parts that I am responsible for. I showed them my video of the Best Buy Talent Show and got to beatboxing:

Wear your stress?

First - The funny. I know its old but me and a bunch of the bby crew were crackin up over it.

Today someone told me that I wore my stress. I guess people at work could tell that I have been a little different lately. Wouldn't know how they could see that as I haven't been to work much within the last week (that's a que for giving me hours). I never really thought it was apparent that I was stressed out but under closer inspection of myself I guess how others could have seen that.

So is it true am I stressed out? Yes and no. Yes in the fact that even though I am not busy at work I am still busy. With expectations that I must meet and more on my plate that I have ever had I am a bit tense. To my customers, sorry, for giving you such the abrupt straight-forward attitude. Lately I have been straight to the point with no BS assessment and up front "call it as I see it" replies. Growing tireless of having to repeat myself because people are so concerned about their own idea's (aka for price minded individuals). I wish they could just take the time to listen to what I am telling them so that better questions could be asked. No (to answer the second part of the question) I find that I do have free time but I usually spend it just sleeping or being lazy.

I haven't had much time to help out @ CQB CITY which is my main source of stress relief. Nothing like pegging a little kid in the face with a BB. I joke of course but believe me it brings a large smile to my face. This would be a good time to note that CQB CITY will be hosting PSD (Personal Security Detail) training for the week of [dates have changed]. Upon completion of the week long course will operators be certified, but also receive help in resume prep., and 90% chance of job placement. For more details or if you would like to sign up please visit the CQB CITY website. The course will be taught by GSA Director Davide Giorgelli. Ive shot (pun intended) a few e-mails back and forth with Joey Rubio (owner) explaining my absence and I get the feeling that my presence is needed. We have some great things lined up for CQB CITY and cant wait to get working on them. Ill be back soon enough once majority of the school projects and papers get turned in. Saturday May 09 I will be my return after the brief hiatus.

As I said earlier I added more to my plate and its going to keep me occupied this fall but as soon as everything is solidified I chime everyone in on it. I have a lot of things planned for the rest of the year and it should be a fairly interesting.

What a day. Had an AM meeting at the big box then work in the evening. During lunch I started to watch the Chicago/Boston playoff game. What a series! Even thought I caught the tail end the matchup the last two games I viewed were very exciting. Damn when was the last time I was this excited about the Bulls, probably when the magnificent three were still playing (Jordan, Pippen, Rodman).

After the game it was a perfect segway for what was suppose to be another great match up: Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton. What an upset I was shocked by the shear speed of Pacman even at his heavier weight combined with Hatton's fixed head made it only easier for Pacquiao to land his punches. By the end of the 1st round Ricky had already been knocked down twice. As the 10 second mark at the end of the 2'nd round passed the world was stunned when Hatton went straight to the mat:

As an avid listener of good music, notice I said good music not just one genre, I like to think that I have an very eclectic music appreciation but I do tend to listen to more R&B, and multiple forms of Hip-Hop.

What do you mean multiple forms of hip-hop? To be honest hip-hop doesnt mean one thing anymore. Theres deep underground, underground, G-funk, religious, politcal, latin, mainstream, the list could literally go on and on.

Today, I saw a trailer for "Next Day Air" and a co-worker and I get to talkin about Mos Def. "You listen to Mos?" was the question I asked. "Of course" was the reply I got. We started to talk about favorite albums. Then he brought to my attention that Def did a interpretation of Kanye Wests "Say you Will." Id like to note that I said interpretation as with jazz you dont cover you play what you feel.

Heres a little background: Mos Def did a string of shows in New Yorks legendary jazz club, The Blue Note. He was backed by the RCDC Experiment (Robert Glasper, Chris Dave, Casey Benjamin & Derrick Hodge)

I get such a mr. clean vibe from it. So smooth, mellow, and just jazzy. At its base you find the original Kanye music but at its soul you'll find so much more. Deep right?

Yesterday, was a long day. In short I did some things out of the blue that will affect my future. No worries they were good decisions but more on the matter as they develop. It really is starting to pour all on down. Deadlings, deadlines, deadlines. Is all that I hear lately and as a business major those deadlings have to be met. Near the end of the night I went to Unique's Multicultural night at the University Ballroom. Saw lots of people that I knew and had seen in class. Great way to cap off the day. BTW, Battle of the Bands is coming up (May 4, 2009) to be exact AMA is co-sponsoring the event so you all should come by and check it out.

As for today there isnt much to say because I worked. Pretty kosher and laid back.

To give you a bit of funny. I am reminded of Chappelle show and how hilarious it was. Sigh bring back great TV.

Where do babies come from?

This is TimmothyDeLaGhetto2 and you can follow him via youTube channel. As usual the broski, Dio, was laughing at a video he saw and I grew curious. Next thing you know I am watching his video's as well. Which is the total opposite of how Dio and I became fans of MrChiCity3.

The video had me in stiches and was not expecting its outcome. Next time you think of asking your parents the same question you better think twice. Otherwise I bet you parents are thinking of doing the same when your kids ask you where babies come from. (*ahem* Franklin & Nary *ahem*)

Today I went to the big box to find out the outcome of the restructure and found the mood in the building to be relatively cheery. As predicted our former supervisor has left the ranks of the Media team and join the Magnolia group. Some of our team members of Media were offered alternative positions on the Merch side of the new department. For myself what did I do? To tell you the truth the restructure did not affect me at all. Still the same position in the same area and I wanted it this way, at least until I graduate.

Aside from that I started watching another series; The Unit. I have heard Chief @ CQB City talk about it over and over again I thought I should watch it. So far I am still in season 1 (pre-writters strike) and I am happy with the content. I would recommend it to anyone who likes action movies and simple story lines (non complex alternating plots; i.e. Lost). Which is a polar opposite of another show I follow; Lost. As an avid follower of Ryan Leslie I recently stumbled upon this video first on youTube. Following its track back to his blog. Ever since the Cassie album dropped and I learned he used to reside in Stockton, California I became an instant fan. Since then I have been watching his video which he used to update via youTube but now is strictly via his blog. This video is a studio session for Fabolous's new track featuring Keri Hilson and produced by NextSelection himself Ryan Leslie. I find myself very attracted to Keri Hilson her voice is so captivating its toxic. The video really displays her talents as she runs riffs and ad libs over the richly produced synth chords.

Tomorrow is the day of reckoning for Best Buy corporate wide. As the big blue box institutes its restructure. Not familiar what I am talking about. Basically for many months even prior to the closure of Circuit City doors and the recessions there have been talks of re-vamping its retail structure. This includes combining departments and eliminating redundant duties. As a result many upper management employees are/may loose their positions but not necessarily their jobs.

Monday will be the day that many of us will find out what changes will be made and who will be staying if they so choose to take the pay cut the re-vamp requires. Also to add that because of our large revenue band our store will be loosing 2 managers. I am curious as to see who those two will be.

Tonight there were many meet-ups of employee's to celebrate the store of what was once a rich and lively bunch and to ready ourselves of the future. You see that with this re-vamp comes stricter rules for its current employee's; assessment, placement tests, & certification, sounds like school doesn't it? To say the least most were all smiles tonight at The Graduate off of Country Club blvd.

This guy however has much bigger things to worry about. As the weeks roll down I officially have less that 4 weeks left until the spring semester over but why am I not excited? I will tell you why. Ive still got presentations, projects, papers, assignments, quizzes, and tests to conquer and quiet frankly I am getting real lethargic when it comes to school. This weeks calls for the typing and finishing up of my Decision Sciences homework which requires me to gather data for the last year and run a multiple regression model to predict data for the next year, and the typing up of a customer analysis for another project. To add I also have a power point presentation to start along with a paper that must be turned in within the next week.

Does it sound like a rant? Allow me to stop complaining.

I am looking forward to the weeks to come despite my bitterness towards them. It just want to have more time to do the things I want to do is that so hard to ask? Can I not just relax and be lazy? Argh. That's life I guess.

I sat down on Thursday (April 23) evening browsing the web like always. Feeling the itch to purchase something, learned it from following woot.com, I searched for things I probably shouldnt be buying (i.e. random electronic gear). Being an avid internet shopper I check postings on www.fatwallet.com and found a great deal on buying an internet domain with goDaddy.com. By the end of the night I had bought a domain for my other blog; milsimjunkie.com and I was quick to tell the broski about it and he too bought a domain; www.diosiador.com. The rest of the night was filled with him and I setting up our blogs to route to our new domains.

It was only then when I realized I dont have many readers. I mean I do have people who browse and check the website but I dont have followers. I have only had 1 or two comments while my brother has several. He gets 200-300 hits to his website every month while myself my blogs get an avg of 90-100 hits. Why? I dont know really but I think it has to do with his content.

Up until recently my blogs have only featured my random musings. Lately I have strived for content rich information. Dio's blog has pictures (damn photographers) and videos while mine has random posts about my day (isnt that suppose to be for twitter?) My hopes is that I can continue to do this and gain more oragnic and returning readers/commenters.

With that said I have decided to change the layout of my page to something a bit brighter and striking not dark and dull like the last. This one will be hopefully easier on the eyes and easier to navigate.

Enough rambling wheres the promise of better content?

The video was shown to me by a friend at the AIRC Lab and it had my in stiches. My favorite are at the top 10. Its concept was simple two guys (both Mexican) come up with the 60 most ghetto names possible.

This is a video by Nary from Easter weekend when they were visiting Norcal. We were eating at BJ's and some got a little tipsy. The camera got passed around and I had to do the shoutout. I LOL'd so much near the middle. Great times, great friends, good eats. When one can accomplish those 3 G's then you will insure yourself joy.

Presentation

So I have a MKTG 126 Sales presentation but its not what you think. Its actually a sale that me and a partner must re-enact in front of the class. If anything, its like a written conversation. Since I wrote the presentation I know it, well, at least I think I do. There are a number of factors that can throw me off. To add our professor is throwing a curveball. He will be giving 'buyers' a random card which tells them when-to or if they will be buying the product we sell.

Ive done practice sessions with my MOM and my BROTHER all of which I did without reading the script. I did stutter a bit though. Hopefully under the suit and tie it will all come out smoothly.

Today, I took some time out during work to sign up for my Fall classes, hopefully my last. Pending what I hear about two of the courses I have enrolled into 5 classes. So far it looks like I am back on the MoWe grind (darn). I was liking the TuTh scene it just felt like my weekends we way too long, which I liked, and gave me more freedom from work.

Summer is going to be a bummer I can already predict it. Taking 2 capstone classes concurrently. I will be in session from 10am - 2pm. Thats what 4 hours right? Seems like nothing, right? Your saying to yourself you can work those 4 hours and they fly by. Well, this is a class not work so I will be sitting down listening to lectures and writing crap for those 4 hours. Feel me now?

I have six classes to go for the BSM (Bachelors of Science in Marketing) and I am just going to have to bite my lip and stay aggressive.

Im trying have more traffic in my blogs. In the next coming weeks you will see much more useful posts and better content. ATM I am so pressed for time I dont want to rush a post. So hopefully in the next weeks as the Spring semester wraps up you will see more thought provoking things.

Sky High Sports

Last night (Thursday) after getting home I decided to work on the AEG. I had received my 7inch RIS/RAS and noticed it didnt fit snuggly like I wanted. So I spent the remainder of the night working on it. I replaced the delta ring with a more sturdy one and then ensured that the rail and front sight was aligned properly.

For the first part of my Friday I did nothing. Well, not completely. I shot a few e-mails back and forth and skipped out on meeting with Mojan Chua (sorry) to discuss some plans for something I am considering helping him with. I also drafted a quick market survey that I will be conducting research.

Mike came over and hung out at the house till 4ish. We left for Rancho Cordova to participate in a dodgeball tournament hosted by Sac State business leadership @ Sky High Sports. With over 85+ people in attendance it quickly became competative. Most of us tried to pick teams and stick to them but people, including myself, jumped into matches. We called ourselves; Lavender. It was either that or "phil in the box."

Our first match we lost but after cycle one we were able to jump back into the competition. Next thing you know Lavenders into the semi-finals. My brother and I had a strategy, I would be used as a shield to block and deflect incoming dodgeballs and Dio would throw. Other teams began to catch on but we had it down pretty solid.

Trampolines were fun and very exhausting. My feet, thighs, arm (rotater cup) are strained and sore. Yep, I am going to feel it tomorrow.

Lavender made it into the finals and WON! It was down straight to 1 vs 1 scenario. Epic Win!

Afterward, everyone and I mean everyone made their way to In-N-Out off of Sunrise Blvd. Nothing tasted better than burgers and fries after dodgeball. Then again everything taste better when its FREE.

After the drive home I am tired and sleepy but I felt that I needed to blog.

Bad case of the Tuesday's

Today began off pretty well. My presentation write-up for my Salesmanship class was due and had a review for an exam on Thursday.

It was in the next class that got the ball rolling for the day. Heres a little background for those that have not heard my horror stories of Marketing 121 with Professor Plath. The class is Market Research so for the most part we learn to conduct surveys and analyze those surveys to affect business. Now this instructor, Prof. Plath, normally teaches Decision Sciences (Business Statistics) so now you have a teacher that essentially teaches math, teach a survey class. Not the greatest of combinations.

I bust out the laptop and begin working on other homework, I am not the only one doing this, then I begin to nod off to sleep. I had the audio recorder running to catch anything I would have missed during this period.

To set up this clip; our assignment was to come up with 10 questions that we would as on a topic that was previously chosen and submitted to the instructor. These questions could have been anything with any number of answers.

Shortly after the beginning of the audio clip below I awoke and decided to ask a question.

Needless to say that small comment woke everyone up. After the kudos I got from those on my side of the room I left for DS.

The rest of the day wen by rather slow I found myself nodding asleep in MKTG 129 and then again in MGMT 102. I guess it was just one of those days.

Ive got an exam on Thursday, an assignment due, rough drafts for proposal/refusal letter, etc etc. At this point in time I am becoming increasingly unmotivated.

Since coming back from spring break I have not been looking forward to the end of the semester. School still manages to move forward and I begin to struggle to catch up.

Sigh. Hopefully things will get better.

Marketing...

The first week back from spring break is always a tired one. This week was more like tireless, I had meetings after meetings and projects and propasals do. With only 5-6 weeks left in the semster things are beginning to wrap up.

Ive got several marketing research presentation (drafts), propasals, write-ups, and meetings I have to attend just in the next week or do. I look forward to the weekends : )

Ive got some depressing news and some exciting ones. Had a morning meeting yesterday (Saturday) at the big box, the first since holiday season 08, and it was one that I was dreading. There are changes afoot and people have to make some very important decisions as to where they want to be. Afraid to say that some will be leaving us and some will be moved to different places. I hate to see the structure of what I have been so used to go but I understand that changes are needed thats the nature of business.

After the meeting I had (volunteer) work at CQB CITY and I was awaiting USPS to drop by my house because I was expecting two packages; weaponblender.com order and a mosfet. Never came by. Franklin picked me up and we headed to the facility early. Introduced Franklin to the rest of the team and we got on to our night op.

It was a pleasure to play airsoft along side with a great friend and a Marine. I am telling you this guy had my six the whole night, literally. Had some great interactions and made sure we had no problems with those in attendance. I hope those who came to the field had a great night and hopefully will come out again.

At the end of the night had a talk with Joey, aka Chief. While I cannot talk much what was said but I can tell you that there will be some changes to our current marketing plan. I am exciting to get some real world experiance (although small) to do something like this.

The rest of the night was filled with playing Rockband 2 (Xbox 360) at Frankie G's residence. It was the first real night that I got more than 10 minutes with the game. I will have to admit it really is fun with friends, and it does require a bit of timing and rythym. As a hobbiest musician myself I found myself out of the melody and hitting the wrong buttons.

Sigh.

Mad Burger..

So I wanted to take Dio and Risa to Squeeze-Inn located in Galt, Ca. However, I would have rather have take them to the original place in Sacramento off of Fruitridge but I didnt want to drive that far.

We get to the Galt location and of course "Closed Mondays" wrote on the door. Gahh! I was really looking forward to to a Squeeze with cheese.

We decide to go to Andre's (a burger joint) in Lodi on W. Lodi Avenue.

They have a a burger called the "Mad Burger challenge" which what looks like a 4 patty burger that if you consume within 30 minutes along with a side of fry's the meal is free. In the back of the place there is a small wall of people who have completed this challenge. The fastest time I saw on the wall was 13 minutes and I was astonished. While I did want to try it, TODAY was just not that day.

I finished editting the CQB CITY video which you can see on my YouTube. Hopefully I will be able to get better and better at getting footage.

Sigh. Its the last day of my spring break. As sad as I am to see it go I am ready to finish off this semester.

Summer Session

So I awoke early (by Spring Break Standards) to register for Summer session. Previously I had to get the CBA Deans office approval to enroll into TWO cap-stone classes; GM 105, and OPM 101. What I mean by cap-stone I mean that these are the last two classes you must take before graduation. Normally one would take OPM 101 during one regular semester then GM 105 the next. However, since I have accelerated by graduation time the only option for me was to do them both in the Summer. Due to the fact that OPM is only offered once during the summer and I cant take GM before I must have them together.

My first real concern was with time and date. It would require that my TuWeTr (Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday) be packed with nothing but school. Which led into another problem. The big blue box requires that I have a meet a certain availability to maintain employment. (Oh Geez) After talking it over with Manager they felt I still meet those requirements and are willing to work with my schedule especially since its only for six weeks and before holiday season.

Now my current issue is with registration fees. Since California Tax fee's just went up to 9% and since CSUS has been raising those fees. The 6 units I will be taking will cost me over $1000 not including books, & gas.

It will be probably the most grueling six weeks of my life. But it all I feel it is worth it. To be the first on either side of my family to graduate with a Bachelors. Sigh, I cant wait for the day.

Since its still early in the day I will be updating this later on tonight.

Yesterday:
I got off work and decided to waste some time and browse around Recreational Equipment, Inc (REI). Afterward I felt like some Tomato soup and Grilled cheese. I made my way down to Boudin SF.

As I was eating the delicious garlic tomato soup I saw an elderly couple make there way out. They were around the age of my grandparents. The older gentlemen waiting for his lady to get up from her seat, opened the Boudin SF door for her, opened the car door for her and even assisted in putting her seatbelt on. I tell you chivalry is not dead.

What was more interesting is what was happening to my right. A younger aristocrat complaining about her salad. Her F'ing salad. I heard her mention something about the dressing.

Its God's way of contrasting young vs old.

Weekend

The weekend was short and simple.

Friday - Went and watched "The Knowing" and would have to say apart from the ending I was really impressed by this movie. The acting was OK and the storyline kept me engadged. After the movie I stayed home for a bit before meeting up with Mike and chilled at Tap-X. Afterward I followed Mike back to Misaki's and had some "dranks" (thanks Nary for having me clarify). That was it.

Saturday - My baby bro, Dio, wasnt feeling to well and woke me up and asked if I could take him to the doctors office (Kaiser). After some waiting he got his prescriptions and left for home. He fell asleep and I was off to a night game at CQB CITY. Had a blast. This byfar was the BEST night game I have played in my year of playing airsoft. Just a fun filled night and lots of teamwork. Heard about this on the radio this morning. Apparently the large crowd amased in front of this building was for the America's Top Model audition. The car you see in the lower center of the screen begins to overheat (white smoke). Then apparently someone or a group of people said "bomb" or "its going to explode" and all hell broke loose.

FYI - When you car overheats it usually mean theres a water cooling issue. The smoke that comes from the car is the boiling water. So NO it WONT explode.

What a week! Just stressful. Had midterms and exams all week and will continue until this new week.

Thursday - Just stressful, I had only studied partially for a Business Communications exam when I received a phone call to from a co-worker telling me that we cant opt out of our performance @ "Meet your Stockton Best Buy." Not having a set-list I panicked and just brainstormed instead of read/studied.

Friday - Wow, was surprised no one really showed up to watch. I mean, I began my set and people stopped and watched but I felt awkward. Not to mention I had to do it off the clock (bummer) and just wasted my time I could have utilized helping customers.

Saturday - Much better performance. Went through the whole set-list and performed regardless of who was watching or not. Ive got to get that video off of Dusty. So who knows you might be seeing a new video pretty soon.

Saturday night/Sunday Morning- Harry was throwing a bash at his house @ Ignacio Circle. I was fairly impressed at the amount of people that rolled through and how relatively (compared to last) controlled it was. I would have called it drama free. Probably due to the LACK of alcohol present. Anyway, I played photographer for which allowed me to meet and greet a bunch of people. I didn't know who's camera (Nikon DSLR) it was all that I new is that I needed to get the pictures to the people pictured. If you missed out, sorry no more parties as Harry's moving back to the bay. Getting to Know...

Sorry blog for not updating you so very often. This week has been a busy one. Had a exam in MTKG 126 (Salesmanship) on Tuesday, tomorrow (officially today), Ive got two of them. I am glad to announce that they are not back to back rather DS 101 (Decision Sciences) is before noon and the MGMT 102 (Business Communications) is in the evening. All would be gravy but considering I don't OWN any of the textbooks my time is limited. Limited to the 2 hours for each book that I have to borrow them from the reserve room.

On top of that Ive got a SMALL performance on Friday officially titled "Getting to Know your Stockton Best Buy." Below is the official flyer being passed around and displayed on the large mall "jumbo-tron" outside.

If you'd like to see me perform or visit on Friday I should be up @ 2:30pm and on Saturday @ 3:00pm.

I still have yet to come up with a set-list (songs I will perform) so that is bothering me in the back of my head. On Tuesday instead of taking a lunch I walked along the American River (lame right?) and was thinking of music to do. Passersby looked at my crazy.

To cap it off I have a quiz on (upcoming) Tuesday and an exam the same day. Sheesh.

Hopefully Thursday will be releive me of the majority of the stress.

Romelette...

I decided to cook an omelette today for lunch. Rather than looking for the usual ingredients(aside the obvious egg)I decided to add in some ramen noodles. It was rather filling and meatless. Heres how to make one yourself

1 Instant Ramen (any flavor as you wont be using the flavoring)
3 Eggs (or 4 if your feeling adventurous)
2 Garlic Cloves (diced & minced)
2 Stalks of Green Onions
1/4 Onion (diced & minced)
1tbl/s Butter
1tbl/s Cooking oil
Favorite shredded Cheese

Salt & Pepper

1. Begin to cook your ramen (follow the packaging instructions). At the same time take your vegetables and begin to dice & mince them.
2. Add garlic, green onions, and onion into a medium-high sauce pan with butter and oil. Begin to saute until caramelized(translucent-brownish color). Drain and strain your ramen and pat try with paper towel.
3. Turn to medium-low heat on the sauce pan and add noodles. Take your eggs and whisk them. Add seasonings (salt & pepper) to liking. Pour into the sauce pan allowing eggs to cook. Add some of your favorite shredded cheese. Once the eggs are cooked into the bottom add to your broiler (@ 350 degrees) to cook the top.
4. Plate and serve. Eat by itself or with (brown) rice.

Note: Dont be afraid to play around with the receipe. This could use a lot more flavor, maybe, more black pepper or a bigger pinch of salt. For a little kick add your favorite hotsauce over the top.

If you havent watched or seen the new season of Making the Band (MTB) then maybe all of this is new to you. Last season on MTB we saw the quick demise of Danity Kane when Diddy decided to kick out on of its members.

On the new season of MTB we see the same process occuring with Donnie and Day 26. We may all be seeing the "Making the Band" curse.

Maronzio Vance's observation is pretty funny but at the same time strangely true. This video was made July 2008 before DK split and the new season of MTB.

Heading to a house party at a friends as I roll stop a corner (I know) I see a friend pass and try to high-beam them (to flag them down). As I start the turn I notice the highbeam still on and I go to turn it off while turning and manage to curb the rim on the EVO. Epic Fail! Its not the first rash on them but the first time I have ever done it with my car. It felt a lot worse than it turned out to be. I parked and got out of the car and just found a pretty nice curb rash on the rim and a nick on my rim protector on my tires.

Moral of the story, try not to show off and flag down a friend. Pay attention at what your doing at all times.

FML. I rotated and rebalanced my tires today. I also got some good maintenance time with her (yeah my car is a girl).

Sigh. I am sorry Esmee for hurting your feet today. I promise that when all is done your gonna be glad you stuck with me.

Sigh,

Sometimes I dont know why I even attend MKTG 121 (Marketing Research). Oh thats right I pay tuition and time not in-class is a waste of my money. Thats right I said my money; financial aid is spreading itself thin in the last year or so and I have been paying increasing amounts for my higher education.

Someone please tell this man that its 8 weeks into the spring semester and we are STILL on the same subject. I mean literally we began talking about Microsoft Access and we are STILL on the same damn subject and even EXAMPLE. Everyday its the same thing.

In college you can usually tell how boring a class is by the amount of laptops out during lecture.

Yeah. Those are laptops.

Up untill about a week ago attending MKTG 121 was really about just making sure I got attendance points. But recently the Doctor began to act real funny. He began to threaten us with "I'll take your name down, I am pulling out my pen" type treatment.

This strange new behavior added a slew of more fun to a very much boring class. Today his old age began to come to light.

My life is strangely for the better of me being run by Google. Everything from my e-mails, phones, schedule, the way I find directions to a place, and even how I read & view content is being run by a Google application. Sigh.

On that note when arriving into the parking lot near my work I found a Google Street View car. Its one of the car's for the reason why you are able to see streets and turns when you use Google Maps. The camera you see atop the Dodge Neon are several cameras that when stiched together using software gives you a 360 degree view. I parked next to it hoped out of my car and took some pictures.

TGIF and I am writting about my thursday musings.

Today (yesterday by technicality) was due for homework submissions and meetings. Before my first class I did my usual and stopped at the student store and grabbed myself an energy drink and a pop-tart (dont judge me!). This ritual is the only thing that gets me through my 3 classes from 7:30-noon. Only that it didnt work today I began to nod off in Decision Science where it was severaly noticable.

I got to play with the new Kindle 2 today. My professor also happens to be the editor for the Sacramento Business Journal and so he has bought one of these for the plethora of books he goes through. For those of you not familiar with what a Kindle is check this out. Basically its a portable reading device. Man is this thing thin and light. Features Sprints 3G network where users can download books straight to their Kindle 2 without connecting a computer. It also has the new text-to-speech for those of you who are too lazy to read. The only things stopping me from making a purchase of my own are price. At $359 I would much rather buy a ultra mini pc and daisy chain my Blackjack (Samsung i607) to connect via 3G if no wi-fi were not available.

During lunch I expected to catch some Zz's in the library before my evening classes. That didnt happen because I found myself on a laptop playing Desktop Defence 1.5. Which BTW I set a new personal best of 8000 pts (again, dont judge me!).

After my last class I had a brief meeting for a paper regarding Telecommuting. I was going to attend the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) meeting but opted not to as I was not dressed for the occasion. Instead I headed to the AIRC lab and knocked out a marketing research assignment that I had been previously working on.

Almost every thursday there is an event being held by Unique, student run activities commitee, in the student union. My friend Mark C and I head in and find a bunch of things going on. Everything form the Ski Snowboard meeting in Hind Hall to campus favorite Hypnotism with Tom Deluca.

Aussie Fever

This week is going well, so far. I am continuely updating my schedule and moving dates around but for the most part I think I have a pretty steller thing going so far.

Things are starting to wrap up here and as a (super) senior I am finding things to wrap up fast. Since joing the American Marketing Association (AMA) collegiate chapter at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) I have found myself in a more active role on campus. The weekdays are filled with deadlines, due dates, meetings, revisions, work, training, etc. As busy as it may sound I find myself still able to manage.

On another note Lent has started (yesterday). What am I giving up? White rice, not rice entierely just that of the white variety. Years ago I gave up rice altogether for lent and that was a struggle. You really dont realize how much of this food is a typical Filipino (Asian for that matter) diet. When you omit it things just dont taste the same. So this year I have opted just to give up white rice sticking to the much healthier brown rice.

With that said lets move on.

I have found myself browsing youTube watching stupid videos and vblogs. An old one I kept referring back to now and again was that of Natilie on her Community Channel . Shes an Aussie girl I stumbled upon almost 2 years ago. After some random clinking (link clicking) I found myself watching videos of another Aussie named Nikki better known as Babbyporridge on youTube. I couldnt help but watch her videos over and over again (think of it as watching your first Magibon video where you just wanted to watch more to see if she did anything else) I know stalker status right? Why you ask? Fascinated by her very vocabulary and use of words mixed with steller editting and a bit of singing I had to keep watching. Take a look for yourself:

On the Grind

Had another pop quiz today thats twice in a row from the same class. Ive got to buy that book or at least preview the powerpoint if I expect to do well in that class. Second class was boring but whats new? Plath gave us a take home quiz which is cool but considering I dont have a book im staying on campus later. The video attached is me in the library working on the said 50 question QUIZ! Ive got some of the chapters copied but I ran outta capital cash on the onecard. So now im hoping nowone checks out the reserve copy. ahh! Ive got a AMA chapter meeting and MGMT 102 group meeting on Thursday plus work tomorrow so theres little to be wasted. I still need to visit financial aid to seek help for summer and hoping I can take OPM 101 and GM 105 during the summer session concurrently. If not my backup is take one class during summer which would be almost a waste and 5 classes in the fall. Ahh!

Gotta stay focused.

Was this just a case of a wrong number? Or possible solicitor? Either case I want to know how thye got my number. I dont even hand out my phone number on applications so I am curious as to how they obtained my number.

Wrapup - A great Sunday by far. Not only did I get to meet a few of the fella's of Emperor Motorsports, & EvoEmpire.org also got to hang out with a good friend around the city. Had lots of laughs and great food. On the way home I began to nod asleep in the rain (OH NOEZ!) however my brother and I ended up talking the rest of the way home.

We got back just in time for Rob Dyrdek's "Fantasy Factory." I will claim it as my new favorite show, however, I have also have grown to liking "The Office."

At home its back to business. Emailed my instructor on guidance on creating a Marketing Plan and tomorrow Ill be typing up idea's for that plan.

My brother talked me into it, attending a car show. Havent been to an official one since 2003 and frankly I feel its a bit over-rated. Why am I going? Simple, its a Sunday and I have the day off.

The start of the second week of the semester and I am already starting to feel lethargic. I need to stay focused and develop a steady study schedule otherwise I will fall out of the loop.

Yesterday, I opted to study at home. Which was a good and bad thing. Good because I didn't use any gas, saved some money, and bad because I didn't get what I wanted to get done.

Not having purchased book have gotten me at the will of the reserve room. I am looking into alternatives to my financial whoa's.

As for my day it seems I keep more interest in classes that have require an active roll. The two other classes I seem to always just sleep. Its not that I want to but rather the instructor lacks the enthusiasm to keep me engaged.

So I am sitting here and reading through the Gawker network of websites and stumbled upon this video in which I will end my night with.

If you know me you will find out I am somewhat of an audiophile. That means I am one of those guys where sound quality is a must. Having listened to compressed, uncompressed, to loseless formats during my times as a wannabe producer/musician there is a big difference not only the format and quality of the sounds but also a great deal in heaphones.

Ive got at least 15 different heaphones ranging from MP3 usage, Studio Work, Gaming, to through away pairs. Ranging from different brands from Yamaha, Logitech, Plantronics, Shure, Bose, Sony, Microsoft, JVC, Skullycandy, and even those $.02 cent ones that come with your iPod.

Right now I have exhausted the usage from my main squeeze, Shure E2C's. I truely love these heaphone's and hate having to consider buying a new one. But I think the time is right to really go for it.

Right now I am considering Shure's SE line. For comparison the Shure E2C's are the older brother of Shures SE110 line which retails for $99. However, I think I am just gonna really gun-ho it and go up the chain a bit with the Shure SE530 which has a retail price of $499.

If not I would settle for a little lower brother the Shure SE310 with a mrsp @ $299

However it was brought to my attention a few weeks ago of a Dr. Dre x Monster collaboration headphone. Its called Beats by Dr Dre released July 2008. Ive have personally talked with people who have used the pair and I have been persuaded to consider the phones. It has a mrsp of $349 however the traditional headphone style would normally not intrigue me for everday portable music player (PmP) usage but we just got this in today at BBY and I am so tempted!

Now your thinking. Are you crazy? Why spend that much on either headphone. Again I am audiophile and it matters to me! If you reading this and asking yourself whats a lower priced quality headphones. Well heres one to consider there is also a killer deal by Tritton on there TRI-XB100 headphones. The pair has a MSRP for $49 but Newegg.com has them for $18 shipped. So if you too are considering headphones but dont want to dish out the type of money I am considering really check them out.

If you have not heard yet Lehman Brothers Holdings has filed for bankruptcy.

However, this doest not equal the demise of the company but rather an economic set-back.

Current price per shares are within $.20 with a 52-week high of $45.88. According to my Finance instructor it will take 2-3 years for Lehman Brothers Holdings to get back to a stable condition. If this is true and he is in fact correct I have been considering buying a substantial (to my standards) amount of shares.

Consider this @ $.20, $100 can buy approximately 500 shares. Should my instructor is indeed correct,Lehman Brothers Holdings can make it back to its 52-week high of $45.88, that will total to over $22K. thats more than 2x initial investment. If the company goes completely under and then I am only out $100.

Do the math even with $20 investment you can yield a $4,500 return. In a 2-3 year span thats nearly $300 a month extra from what you already earn.

After lunch today I received a weird message on my phone. Some lady was looking for a guy name Bob who apparently worked for Jager Music (yes, of the alcoholic variety) and she was from All State Promotions. I guess there is this event or appointment Bob needs to be at tomorrow in a nearby town. So I called back and left a message on the ladies voicemal informing her it might have been a wrong number. Naturally I went off to class and she called me back leaving a message on my voicemail:

"This is Tesh from Allstate Promotions and this is a message for Bob. Just calling to confirm that you will be at the event tomorrow in Modesto"

Ok, now I get only a bit more concered as the only Allstate I can think of is of the insurance variety. This raises a red flag in my head and I had to investigate.

As a struggaling college student I have took out (small) loans to supplement the cost of school (i.e. tuition, books, transportation, etc). So anything unexpected would hurt me.

I looked and researched into credit reports to see if there was something out of the ordinary on my report. A quick google search turned up a link on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) so I knew this wasnt a scam. As the FTC explains each individual is entitled to one free credit report a year. If you make large purchases (house, car, boat, etc) more than once a year then this isnt for you. Most students like myself live paycheck by paycheck so there are lots of instances where identities can get stolen and ruined.

If you follow the links and instructions on annualcreditreport.com it is very quick and painless process. In my opinion its faster with Experian. I was able to enter my information and verify my identity and view my credit report. It even outlines what creditors can see and what I myself can only see. Near the top of the screen you are also able to print out the whole report.

Needless to say I didnt see anything out of the ordinary (*knock on wood*) and I have yet to have heard back from that lady.

I may call her again just to make sure that the number she was calling was by mistake alone.
